Eastwick Library Expands Weekend Hours and Launches Local History Archive
The Eastwick Public Library has extended its Saturday hours and opened a new local history archive, part of an effort to make the town’s records more accessible to residents and researchers.
The archive brings together photographs, township documents, and materials from the textile-mill era that had been stored in boxes and scattered across departments. Staff and volunteers have begun scanning the collection so items can be searched online rather than requested in person.
What residents will find
- Digitized photographs of Riverside Avenue and the Old Mill District over the decades
- Scanned council minutes and public notices from past eras
- Oral history recordings collected from longtime residents
Library staff say the extended Saturday hours respond to demand from families and students who found the previous schedule too short. The later closing time will run on a trial basis while the library tracks usage.
Residents with old photographs or documents tied to Eastwick’s history are being invited to bring them in for scanning, after which the originals are returned. The library says the goal is a shared, searchable record of the town that grows with community contributions.
